Roam Special Cycles was founded by Theo de Rouw in Ammerzoden. Theo decided to turn his great hobby into his profession, and the company Roam ( de Rouw, Ammerzoden) was a fact.

A whole new product was launched at the Support fair, the Connect Carrier! A add-on ''Bakfiets'' for manual-wheelchairusers. With this, we were able to offer wheelchair users who are also parents or have a hobby a suitable means of mobility.
Roam Special Cycles started to outgrow its premises, a new location was inevitable! Roam Special Cycles is located at Buitenkamp 20 in Hedel, in an energy-neutral building with green label A. In this building, we generate almost 200,000 Kwh annually!
Quality, durability and safety are paramount at Roam Special Cycles B.V. ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 are among our certifications in addition we are an accredited company with the National Quality Mark for Assistive Devices (NKH). As a Dutch manufacturer of adapted bicycles, we design, develop and produce everything under one roof. We test our products alongside different manufacturers' wheelchairs for safety, durability and quality.
In October 2022, PostNL, in partnership with ROAM Special Cycles, thereby received the Coups de Coeur award in the "employees" category. These awards recognise the best practices of mail-order companies across Europe in different categories: employees, economy and environment.
The official handover of the first Connect Carrier Cargo took place in August 2023. It will be used by PostNL for postal and parcel delivery.
